Objective:
To design a product that promotes wellness and mental health during the pandemic lockdown.
Target Audience:
College students who live in residence halls on or off campus who are isolating due to the pandemic.
Problem Statement:
With the pandemic lockdown, people are experiencing stress, anxiety, and depression due to a lack of social interaction.
The pandemic has drastically changed the way we work and live. For many college students, the shift to remote and hybrid learning has been especially difficult. Without the physical presence of friends on campus, they are forced to rely more on virtual socializing while trying to balance classes, work, and other responsibilities. Additionally, the strict guidelines that universities have put in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19 can be isolating making it hard for those students to adjust to the new normal.
61%
of young adults felt a greater amount of loneliness since the start of the pandemic
Gardening benefits students by reducing stress, improving mental health, and providing a sense of accomplishment and connection with nature.
Ideation
Limitations:
-Some universities prohibit anything to be attached to the wall through mechanical connections (Screws, Nails, Tacks)
-Some universities also prohibit things to be hung on the window that could block or inhibit the function of it.
