Cold Brew

Ingredients

  • Coarsely ground coffee beans (about 1 cup)

  • 4 cups of cold water

  • A large jar or container with a lid

  • Coffee filter or cheesecloth

  • Optional: Flavorings like cinnamon, vanilla extract, or chocolate syrup

  • Optional: Sweeteners like sugar or simple syrup

  • Ice cubes (for serving)

Preparation

Instructions:

  1. Grind the coffee beans: Start by grinding your coffee beans to a coarse consistency. This helps in extracting the flavors properly during the brewing process.

  2. Combine coffee and water: In a large jar or container, add the coarsely ground coffee beans and pour in the cold water. Stir gently to ensure all the coffee grounds are saturated. If you're adding any flavorings, such as cinnamon or vanilla extract, you can add them at this stage as well.

  3. Steep the coffee: Once the coffee and water are well combined, cover the jar with a lid or plastic wrap and let it steep at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours. The longer you steep, the stronger the flavor will be. Find the duration that suits your taste preference.

  4. Filter the coffee: After the steeping period, line a sieve with a coffee filter or cheesecloth and place it over a clean container or pitcher. Slowly pour the coffee mixture through the filter, allowing it to strain out any coffee grounds. This may take a few minutes. You can also use a specialized cold brew coffee maker , French press to separate the grounds,or cold brew bags.

  5. Dilute and serve: Once the coffee has been filtered, it will be highly concentrated. To serve, dilute it with equal parts water or milk, depending on your preference. You can also add ice cubes to chill it further. If desired, sweeten your cold brew with sugar or simple syrup. Give it a good stir.

  6. Enjoy: Pour your homemade cold brew coffee into a glass, add ice cubes if desired, and enjoy! You can store any remaining cold brew in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Note: Cold brew coffee is known for its smooth and less acidic taste. Feel free to experiment with the coffee-to-water ratio and steeping time to find the strength and flavor that suits your liking.
